Hello there and welcome to the now! it’s the moment in time where most of us spend our waking hours. All of us spend our waking hours in the now. But you see, as you have probably noticed, us humans are gifted with this magical tool at our disposal and I’m talking about the brain, the magical, wonderful, awe-inducing human brain.
And let’s face it, we haven’t discovered all the secrets of the human brain yet. You have a brain, I have a brain and everybody’s got a brain. The human mind does this curious thing that makes us unique.
It allows us to think about past events and to think also about future events, or how we think future events might look like.
So, as a conclusion, the past exists in our heads only as memories of our life experiences.
And similarly, the future we imagine is based on those past experiences, past data and past interpretations that our brain makes.
It’s nothing new until now, you will say, but honestly, I’m quite amazed by my own brain. Also with your brain too, but more with my brain. And that is because of what this magnificent biological tool does for each of us, members of the human species.
There is a simple proof that our brains are amazing. The fact that you can read this article on your computer screen, on your smartphone, or your laptop or any device, you would like. All of that has come thanks to the abilities of our collective brains.
The main idea I want you to take out of this lecture is one little thing that our brains allow each of us to do, and that is the ability to focus our attention; using the ability to focus, you can summon. You can recall into your present moment, into the now, anything that has happened to you in your past to the best of your ability to remember; by remembering something, you summon that best experience into your present moment.
But it doesn’t come alone. It comes together with images of your past, with voices, with smells and with touching sensations. Just by remembering something that has happened to you. This is what the brain will bring into your conscious awareness.
The most important thing that you summon into your attention when you think of the past, good or bad.
Are the emotions associated with everything that has happened to you?
People, places, events; every time you think of the past, You do so in the present moment; you are re-living those emotions, those images, those voices and sensations in your present moment, in your current present moment. Isn’t it happening to us? Yes, it is.
Furthermore, this means that you are bringing an emotional or vibrational signature into your present moment. So what is the big care, you might ask?
OK here it goes, I hope you’re sitting down because if you want to create a better future for yourself, you must learn to create the right emotions in the present moment.
Every time you remember the past, you reinforce a certain feeling, a certain emotion inside of you or a certain vibration. It doesn’t matter to your brain if it’s good or bad.
The quality of your life experience is determined by how you feel in your present moment. Or better said, it’s determined by the emotions that you feel right now. The emotions that you keep feeding with your focus, over and over again in your present moment.
And as we know, life is made of a succession of present moments. And here is the key to a great positive life change. Since what you feel in the present moment determines the quality of your future life experience. It also shapes a specific vision of your future, determined by your emotions.
Have you noticed that what you give your attention to tends to increase in time?
So, if you keep focusing only on the bad things that happen to you, like a lot of people in modern society do, you actually train your mind your beautiful, magical, amazing brain, to find more and more reasons to feel afraid, to feel angry, to feel agitated and to not trust other human beings.
But in the same way, the opposite is true. The more you spend training yourself to feel and think about good, positive emotions, to the best of your abilities, the more you will be able to create a better vision for your future, a vision of the future that feels good.
Furthermore, you increase the chances for that future to become a reality. So you see, it’s very important to start training ourselves to take care of the way we feel inside, no matter what happens to us in our life experiences.
And while you might think this is a hard thing to do, It’s not! I can tell you I have been doing it. I know other people who have been doing it and I can guarantee that your life will change. The moment you start noticing the good things first; if you want to have a better future, you must learn how to take conscious control of the way you feel in the present moment.
You don’t have to do it all the time, but you have to train yourself. And, ironically as it sounds, you cannot postpone doing this into your future. So you love to do it now! 😉
